A Mayo Jar & two beers

This was sent to me by a friend today and thought is was very insightful...

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours
in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in
front of him.

When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty
mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full.

Annual Credit Report

Lots of people have seen the ads from FreeCreditReport.com, but did any one really know that their service is not actually free? The FTC (yes, the United States Federal Trade Commission) has put out their own ad without directly referencing the previously mentioned website. Their version of the ad promotes www.annualcreditreport.com, which is a site that I use every year to personally check my credit as well. I highly recommend everyone going to www.annualcreditreport.com and getting their truely free credit report from all three major credit reporting agencies such as Transunion, Experian and Equifax.

While you're at it, take a look at the FTC's commercial for www.annualcreditreport.com below.

How to Date an Entrepreneur

I read a very interesting article on http://www.wikihow.com on How to Date an Entrepreneur. Some if it is quite funny; however, being an entrepreneur myself, I can relate to a lot of it. I found myself chuckling on a few things within the article. Here it is:

Phantom Energy Leaks

I was sent an interesting tid-bit of information from my family this morning. I've always heard of this, but when you do the math, keeping appliances plugged in even though they are not "on", they are still consuming power. The Union of Concerned Scientists estimates 5% of energy use is from phantom sources (basically an appliance left plugged in but not being used by you).

Atayne on Snow

My sister (Becca D.) and her "significant other" (Jeremy) have been working hard over the last year on an environmentally friendly small business called Atayne (http://www.atayne.com). As a business owner myself (Netarus and TeleArk) and Becca's brother, I'm really proud of both of them as it is a lot of work to get a business off the ground. However, from a purely unfiltered and unbiased perspective, I love the concept of providing products that are environmentally friendly and practical. I've personally seen in the past where many products are considered "green" but are overpriced and serve little or no purpose other than claiming that they are environmentally friendly. Don't even get me started on the whole natural versus organic debate... I'll leave that for another rant.

Man Stuff...

I thought this was pretty funny, so I'm posting it on here.

Man Stuff:

1: Under no circumstances may two men share an umbrella.

2: It is OK for a man to cry ONLY under the following circumstances:

(a) When a heroic dog dies to save its master.
(b) The moment Angelina Jolie starts unbuttoning her blouse.
(c) After wrecking your boss' car.
(d) When she is using her teeth.

3: Any Man who brings a camera to a bachelor party may be legally killed and eaten by his buddies.

4: Unless he murdered someone in your family, you must bail a friend out of jail within 12 hours.

5: If you've known a guy for more than 24 hours, his sister is off limits forever unless you actually marry her.

Cell Phone Radiation Causes Insomnia?

I've been wondering why I've had insomnia on and off for the last couple of years. Some months I'd sleep like a baby. Other times, I would get no sleep at all. Now it seems there might be a smoking gun to the whole thing. I'll be keeping my cell phone far away from my bedroom for now on - where it should be.

Chris's Layered Burrito Casserole

Over the years of being a bachelor, I’ve found some really great recipes that are very hardy and - most importantly - easy to make. The following recipe is a delicious burrito casserole that you can spoon into tortilla shells. I hope to put up pictures at some point, but here it is:

Tools Required (I’m a guy – they’re tools, ok!):

  1. One Deep Dish Baking Bowl - something you can put the refried beans in, please in the oven and combine everything.

  2. Large Spoon

  3. Small Spoon

  4. One Deep Sauce Pan – This will also need to be able brown the meat and to hold all of the refried beans. You are free to use more than one sauce pan, but I don’t like to do dishes and combine them later, but this is easier.
